The buzzing sound of a fly is in the air… It’s an unsettling sound. It’s infectious and it’s freakishly good.

Luke Solomon has been a fundamental part of the dance scene for over a decade now and his contribution over the years has been nothing short of phenomenal. Now in 2006, his sound is still evolving and his bizarre take on the new underground house sound is very exciting, a master of the groove and never afraid of a risk, his latest productions are arguably his finest work to date.

The ‘Ghosts EP’ is an amazing slice of all that is twisted, starting with ‘A Long Time Darkly’, it waits for no one to get started, dropping straight into the peak-time groove - it’s rolling, it’s jackin, it’s BIG. A chugging bassline combines with a massive electro riff, whilst clicky rhythms and vocal snippets drop in and out to elevate it into a standout track!

‘Search & Destroy’ is also known as ‘the one with the fly noise’… A big tune for Luciano at the beginning of the year, after Luke exclusively gave him a copy when guesting at one of the Cadenza parties in Berlin. Bouncy rhythms with soft drums, rising electro keys and a great blip melody make for another big tune.

Luke began his professional DJ career in 1990 with a residency at Middlesex University, which is where he met cohort Justin Harris. Later when working at Freetown records, he met Rob Mello and Kenny Hawkes with Rob soon taking Luke under his studio wing and teaching him the ropes, together they went on to release for both Freetown and Prescription Underground – it was through Prescription that he got introduced to a certain Derrick L Carter. A bond was immediately formed and they went on to create the legendary Classic Recordings. Luke also started to record with Justin Harris and they formed Freaks and their own label Music For Freaks, 3 studio albums followed. More recently Luke has been working new Freaks material and on his own solo productions and currently has signed singles to Rekids, Gallery, Icon, and Cajual. He’s also just started a new monthly residency at AKA on the fourth Friday of every month.

A man in impressive form!
