Released January 26th, 2009
CDR (Crosstown Digital Rebels) is a new platform from experimental pioneers Crosstown Rebels, created for new introductions, experimentation of previously released tracks and fresh workings in sound.
The digital-only label’s second release welcomes Dyed Soundorom for his debut for the Rebels.
‘Naked’ features the vocals of Detroit native Aaron Carl, a driving force in the history of electronic music. In the dawning days of house music Carl’s own productions appeared on labels such as Ovum and Metroplex while his collaborations touched on a range of styles from soulful, deep house cuts like “Crucified” and the chart-topping anthem “My House,” to funky, jacking electro anthems like “Down”.
This two track EP is reminiscent of an early Chez Damier or Derrick Carter record, full of energy, charisma and beauty and already supported by a league of big names such as Radioslave, Jamie Jones and Luke Solomon.
‘Beautiful Eva’ on the B-side shares much of this magic and unveils Dyed’s ability to recreate the nostalgia of a classic era.
Dyed Soundorom has shone as a raw talent in the Parisien scene over the past few years. His close friends Shonky and Terry have joined him in the rising leagues and his own productions on labels Freak n’Chic and Tsuba have introduced him to the European dance circuit.
Aaron Carl joined the ranks of celebrated artists through his own remixes of the greats, from techno pioneers Underground Resistance, to jazz legend Manu Dibango. In turn he has been remixed by some of the industry’s top producers, such as Ewan Pearson and Grammy Award winner Peter Rauhofer/Club 69.
His guest vocal is a graciously received gift to the Rebels and shows a return to form for the house veteran. Bringing in 2009 with a kick, CDR is thrilled to unleash the seductive and soulful ‘Naked’ EP.
