Released May 2nd, 2007

In the last year or two there’s been an obvious shift in the producers that are getting the attention and raising excitement levels, Dan Berkson is apart of this new guard. Having already released on established labels such as Mood Music, Movim, Gourmet, Household and Poker Flat, now is the time for him to become a Rebel!
Originally a keyboard player, Dan was playing six nights a week in his hometown of Chicago by the age of 16. He entered the New England Conservatory of Music in 1993 and quickly immersed himself in the worlds of jazz, funk and soul. While at NEC, he studied with such jazz greats as Danilo Perez, Cecil Mcbee and George Russell. Dan co-founded “The Daddys”, a funk band which won numerous awards and gained a loyal fan base in the Boston area. “The Rockett Band” was a second project that took off locally, but after two self-released albums and selling out venues in Boston, New York, Providence, and Portland, Dan left the band to pursue a solo career. As his interests turned more to house, dub and electronic music, he went to London to study production and immersed himself in the UK’s forward thinking music scene. Alongside his partner in crime James What, the duo have been taking their live show all across the planet injecting new life and excitement into each and every dancefloor!
Dan’s sound epitomises Minimal Funk. Clearly a fan of Steve Bug and co, he manages to draw on all his knowledge and experience of funk and soul and mould it into futuristic sexy house music. Clean, intricate and intelligent beats overlap with warm pads, bleeps and synths to create two tracks of ultimate groove. Expect to hear The Hollow and Circuits in a disco near you soon!
