Gorgon City

Two men, one mission: Gorgon City strut with a salubrious yet sordid sound. Polished, powerful and party-minded, it’s already caught the ears of tastemakers as disparate as Diplo, DJ T and Terry Farley. Heavy hip-swinging rhythms meet butt-shaking bass, their sweet, sassy metropolitan mayhem celebrates the very best aspects of the mid-tempo melting pot that makes girls wriggle and boys giggle from San Antonio to San Francisco.

Inspired by the endless groove possibilities when house, garage and bass music go toe-to-toe, Gorgon City’s distinctive sound is a logical development of the duo’s individual work as Foamo and RackNRuin. Both respected and renowned for their electrifying bottom-end workouts, it’s a platform for the North London producers to fuse the deeper, sexier sounds they’ve been excited by for years but not yet had the opportunity to explore.

You can thank their strict diet of jungle, house, grime, hip-hop and garage while growing up. You can thank the many messy sessions they’ve spent DJing on the White Isle. You can thank the fluidity the pair vibe with when together in the studio. Either way, this exciting new project is the sum of their many influences, inspirations and ideas; and right now they’ve only just scratched the surface.

Currently taking up residence on Black Butter Records – the same label who gave us chart-smashing vibe maestros Rudimental – their unique funk fusion hints at club carnage but is executed with sleek, sonic sophistication.

Radio backed already by Radio 1, 1Xtra, Rinse FM and tipped by i-D Magazine as one of the hottest acts to watch this year, Gorgon City are releasing ‘Real’ ft. Yasmin as their first track – it’s been earmarked as one of the earliest scorchers of 2013.

With forthcoming support slots for Rudimental, B-Traits & Chase & Status, plus countless gigs across the UK, the guys look to really stamp their sound and character onto 2013.
